Limited job · Launches with patch 7.56 · September 8, 2026

Beastmaster

FFXIV's second limited job. Weaken wild beasts, catch them, and fill the Master's Bestiary: around 50 to collect, three at your side, one in the field at a time.

The Bestiary

Opens September 8

Per-beast pages land here at launch: where each beast roams, how to weaken it safely, and the actions it grants. The page anatomy is already built; the beasts just need to arrive.

What's confirmed

  • Melee DPS with a one-handed axe and shield. Starts at level 1, caps at 50.
  • Capture loop: weaken a beast in the open world, use Catch, then finish the fight.
  • Up to 50 beasts, each with its own action, auto-attack element, and passive.
  • Assign three familiars to battlehorns and cycle between them mid-fight.
  • Job quests arrive with each new mechanic instead of every five levels.

How the familiar cycle works

Summoning a familiar grants One with Nature, spent on one of two choices: Tempered Release commands that beast's unique action, while Borrow gives you one of eight actions based on its classification. Borrowed actions stay available after a swap until you Borrow again.

Trick spends a familiar's TP on a weaponskill. Parting Blow fires Aetheric Burst, returns the familiar to its horn, and puts that horn on cooldown. Keeping three horns cycling is the core rhythm.

Instinctual combos

You and your familiar have separate TP gauges. Use instinctual skills within seven seconds of each other to build a combo and deal bonus damage. Skills have red, blue, brown, or green affinities; following the job gauge clockwise increases the payoff.

Beastmaster can use all four colors, but each familiar carries only one. Rally and Rallying Cheer refill your TP and your familiar's TP, opening longer chains. Some Tempered Release and Borrow actions can extend them further.

Crucible of the Unbroken

A solo, board-shaped roguelike introduced by the level 30 job quest. Bring 10 to 15 beasts, preview enemy weaknesses, then pick three for each fight. Routes mix enemies, campsites, treasure, and shops; a Recommended Team button can build a starting lineup.

HP does not refill between fights. Territory tokens buy items, passive beast gear, and classification-specific feed; beasts also gain EXP and ranks here. Results award Remnants of Resilience for Beastmaster gear. Clear First, Second, and Third Degree to reach the seasonal rankings and their rainbow crystal golem mount.

Season one starts about two weeks after 7.56 and runs until patch 7.58. Other rewards include gear upgrades, weapon and beast glamours, minions, titles, and portrait kits.

Unlock requirements

  • Own the Dawntrail expansion
  • Level 50 on any Disciple of War or Magic
  • The Ultimate Weapon complete
  • Unlock quest NPC and location: announced at launch

Limited-job rules apply

Like Blue Mage: no Duty Finder matchmaking, no PvP, no deep dungeons, no Ultimates, and a big experience bonus from open-world enemies. Solo play is the design target, and all 50 beasts are catchable solo.

Crucible beasts can reach rank 25 without high-difficulty clears. At max rank, each gains an alternate appearance you can show off in the overworld.
